  • tangible interaction
  • tool kit

During an internship at Bureau Moeilijke Dingen I worked on multiple projects with AI-kit as centrepiece. AI-kit is a toolkit offering the power of artificial intelligence to less tech-savvy users. For this project I designed data gathering modules that gather data for an AI with the focus on making it easy to use and understand for the target group. I selected the most essential sensors for supporting the largest variety of use cases. Next, I created a simplified user interface and sensor module to test general usability aspects. I implemented the results into the styling of the modules, where I experimented with silicone casting. To fit the overall styling, I designed a PCB which includes components for wireless communication (using an ESP32) and optimal battery life.

Many activities during my internship were completely new or outside of my expertise, so in order to implement them in the process collaboration was essential. Working on different projects at the same time made a good planning even more important and also provided me with inspiration for other projects due to different perspectives.
